CAD31

And... to round out a month of crafts, here is a felted necklace, made of a beautiful changing dye wool. I LOVE this necklace. And, I want to wear it alllll the time.

I've learned that white, or undyed wool, doesn't felt the same as the other wool. Very strange. How could dyed effect the felting reaction?  Off to google I go.

CAD30

Earrings. Purdy!

They're made of that same iridescent bluegray that I like so much for the nests.

CAD29

Well...I'm a day behind so I'll have to move quickly to catch up... here's a head band with fabric flowers, detailed w chrome beads. Again, seester fabric! Yay!

CAD28

So, I've ordered these mini bead caps off etsy and this is my first set of earings with them. I bought them to make Kim a longer necklace... so we'll see how I really use them.

CAD27

Another bag for the shop. Its a zipper pouch made of crocheted fabric in mustard red and white. There is red lining fabric and a red crocheted flower on the outside.

CAD26

Here's a fabric cuff. I've used a white, red and mustard fabric (from da seester) and crocheted it into a bracelet/cuff. I really like this color combo, and the way it frays a bit. It was a real pain to crochet.

I also made a knot detail and a mini clutch out of the same fabric. I had the perfect amount of fabric to get these done tonight. Seester, you have the best taste in fabric!

CAD25

This is my work in progress clutch. Its wool with burlap...I have the lining, pocket, and zipper selected...now its just time to install them to The shell.

Egg nests

dark purple

iridescent bluegray

Here are the nests I can do (as of today). Now I really need some robin's egg blue beads for these nest!

CAD24

Here's a crocheted silver egg basket (or nest) with pale bluegray iridescent eggies. I hung it as a pendant on a 16inch silver chain.

CAD 23

Necklace. Green silver earthy. Probably going to be an Xmas present because I know some who loves green and browns.

Tomorrow I'll post the missing CADs since its elle's bday.

For now we're priming the brick in the sunroom for its paint job. We're playing with the ideas of grays and yellows even though I really want a more earthier green. Martha Stewart has a beautiful color called garden shed which I want. But it'll end up being gray BC my color is too close to the living room color.

CAD22

This is a set of felted bracelets. One is going to elle for her bday. I'm thinking the purple button one, but I'll probably need to make it thinner.

I think these can be made for unisex, which would be my first boy craft! Cool!

CAD21

This beauty was originally going to be the pocket of a mixed textile bag I was making for myself. But, now that its done, its more than a pocket.

What would you do with it?

CAD20

Here are a set of adorable felted earrings. They're for elle...for her bday. But I'm sure they'll end up in the etsy shop. They're pretty and easy to mass produce as long as my arms don't fall off rolling them!!!

CAD19

Tada! Elles's bday scarf. This friendly creature is machine sewn on to a wool blend scarf after felting and embroidering him for detail. I love his belly.

CAD 18

Felted turtle!  Pre felting. Ill blog a final product so you can see how cool it is!  Next up is a bird. Then maybe another animal. And then...a line of animal edged scarves for the etsy shop...  my owl is adorable but is presently in wrapping paper waiting for elle's birthday. Then I can put him up for you to see.

CAD 17

A wool hat in weimeraner taupe. See how well we match!

CAD 16

Ok. He's not done. But, he will be soon. Here's my first felted animal. You see him before felting and after one wash. Those are not his real eyes...there just my earrings I plugged in.

I think this is a brilliant idea: a bedside buddy!  An animal that lives by your bed so that if you climb in and forget to take off a peice of jewelry, you bedside buddy will hold it until morning!  No more lost earings!  And, he's adorable (although unfinished).

Antique key on a gun metal chain...  I'm not toally happy with this, so I'm marking it as a work in progress.

Bobbie bundle!

I need a cute color name for this one. I like The earthy green and brown so I'm playing with those ideas. Thoughts?

CAD 13

This craft isn't done. What youre viewing is. A sweater from goodwill which I'm felting into the outside of a bag. My eco conscience Ellen wont let me run the washer just for this one peice so I have to do it laundry load by load. The first Leicester is a deconstructed part of the sweater so you can see what felting does. I found 3 100% wool sweaters this week. One was a real massive pain to deconstuct. The next is UN feltable for some reason. Then there's this one which is beautiful and felting nicely.

I'm getting to where my productivity is slowing because I have more time intense peices.

My recent obsession is felting. I went and used my michaels coupons on 4different colors of wool. I'm been playing with making zipper bags with them. They crotchet super quickly. But when I see etsy bags, I get distracted with my goal BC I want to mimic those. Ah, Tue joys of an ADD crafter!

Cole loves

Cole is 6. That's tough for me to admit because she's going to live forever. But, even in her young age she's fiesty.

Takes after her mother in that way.

Presently I'm deconstructing a jcrew 100% wool sweater for felting. I left the room for a moment and I've lost my spot. Not only that, but she's not giving it back without a fight.

A bobbie bundle is my innovation for bobby pins. Here's my favorite set so far: the tomato basil set.

A felted clutch! Button, pocket, lining, magneting clasp. Mustard yellow, brown, and tan. So cute!

CAD 9

A simple classic: sparkly black felt w bead broach. Or, you could attach it to a headband... anyway you wear it, it's that added bit of class or detail you needed.

CAD #8

Today's craft is an antique bronze set of earrings. I love these because they're so simple and eloquent. Once home from the reunion, I'm going to really work on a few necessary crafts: a new living room chair cover, a table cloth and chair cover set for the sewing room... things like that.

The reunion was wonderful. I'll post a couple pictures once home.

CAD #7

And now, my master work: sessters laptop bag. I'm beyond proud of this beautiful peice. It's industrial and functional. Pretty and hardy.

What you see is burgundy canvas with jessica levitt fabrics accenting the outside. The bat fabric is on the strap pillow as well as on the outside details. Zipper to close. I'm super proud of this one.

CAD 6

Here's my lovely felted zippy. I love it. So much. It reminds me of camping with its tan and brown. The slight yellow is that little bit of color, while the blue bead is useful and gives a pop of playfulness.

KY is wonderful. There is so much great food. So far I've loved the napa cabbage salad and the lemon pie. Although my favorite family sweet will always be opera fudge, aunt vick has the nicest pies and cakes. Be it prune, lemon or cokacola. Nom!

CAD 5

And here is a felt flower and yellow button broach. I'm loving working with felt because my first love is crochet/knitting, and felting uses those. The 2 bags I have are nearly done. Those will probably be sold, although I love both of them.

And, I love the needle lady shop in cville's downtown mall for having smaller balls of wool in great colors. Specifically, a shout out to colleen for helping me!

What is this?

Mini chinese take out?  Beads all neatly organized?  douglas fur samples?  Sampson meal rations for grandma and grandpas this weekend?  Categorized beach shells from this year's trip?

Nope. It's inventory. That's right folks. You're looking at earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and a broach.  larcreations inventory.  That's pretty snazzy.

I was cleaning up (at 2am) from my last jewelry project and I had no idea where I was going to organize the finished stuff. So, I took some containers I got at that really nifty everything-in-the-world junk shop in wboro, and voila!  Inventory organizers. Works well for jewelry. Felt and sewing will have to have a different system.

Elle is the next step. I do all purchasing, brainstorming, experiementing, and creating. She does photos, marketing and site placement. We have our strengths and she's an excellent persuader. If anyone can sell this stuff, it's elle.

CAD #4

Todays craft is really close to my heart. My seester and I brainstormed this beautiful creation. Its Gran's legacy necklace. The four beads represent her two girls and her two grandchildren. Tapaz for aunt v, varrying purple amethyists for mom, seester and me. Moms is earthy with layers, seesters is on an antique finding and brass like her hair. Mine is simple silver. The funniest part to me is that the metal of the necklace is called 'Gun metal', so even uncle rick is represented. I love this part. I hope he and gran do, too.

Tomorrow we travel for the family reunion. Each day I'll post a different craft I've made for each family member. Seesters will be a long one bc I have a ton of pictures for it.

Etsy, I love you

I mean really. Whoa. This is a KNIT wool felted sculpture. Its for sale for $675 on etsy.

All I've gotta say is WHOA. (That's my wall-e voice, people)

I'm nearly done w seesters laptop bag. Internal interfacing is taking longer than I like, but tomorrow is strap day.

The onlt decision I've yet to make is how to close this bag. I hate a messenger flap, so that's out.  Suggestions?

CAD#3 8.3.2010

Its very late and after a midnight meeting with seester about kentucky music, I felt the sewing room calling my name.

I'm still on the hunt for the perfect jewelry for gran, but until I get there, little beauties seem to keep popping up.

I like the lime and brown of these. It's a shame I don't have better wire to wrap with... Then, my wire would match my ear hooks. One day I'll get fancy and coordinate all the jewelry making correctly.

As esty is going, it seems that earrings, passport covers, and hobo bags are definites. I'd love to get felted accessories in there too,but I'm not having the luck i'd hoped for with the final product of my felting. Well, except for this one beautiful felted ball. I really should use him somewhere.

Also, did you know you can turn your cat's fur into yarn? Oh man, I'm all about this crazy idea in theory. Brush kitty and collect in paper bag-the brushings, not random hair from the floor of your home. Once you've got enough you can wet felt or hand felt into a creation or just work into a yarn. There are also people on etsy who will create yarn for you if you ship them your kittys fur. Whoa! That's almost too weird. Even for me and my beloved Cole. I love her... but not that much.

CAD #2 8.2.2010

Wire wrapped tree art.

I'm thinking this would be a cool ornament. May be ill make a set of these for family for xmas.

Also, I think if I can make them smaller, then they'd be great as a pendant. Id just need to hammer some firmer wire for the outside.

CAD 8.1.2010: the coffee sleeve prototype.

victory is mine!

welcome to DROID posting. YESSS!

Craft-a-day

I might have a problem with completion... I mean, I love to do anything with my hands, be it typing, crafting, building, etc.

My dear elle is starting to give me a dash of grief about my stash and lack of productivity. Thus, I present for your delight, Craft-A-Day, during the entire month of August. The only problem with this idea is that I'm out of town/state some days, but I hope to offset this bump with doing multiple crafts during some days.

Yesterday I dabbled with coffee sleeves. I made one, and it's terribly small. Also, if you're going to get coffee to go, why don't you just use the 100% recycled cardboard coffee sleeve they offer? Well, because some people like personalized, quirky things. So, I'm going to perfect the coffee sleeve and hopefully it with the passport cover will be part of the 'sewn lovelies' going into larcreations at the end of this month.

Now, to figure a way to get pictures from my droid to my blog.

Happy Monday.
