Peacock earrings, take 1,937,462,812,937,291,045.
If you're interested in Peacock earrings, message me ASAP before I run out of feathers, again.
This is my newest sewing tutorial: a fabric makeup box. I used mens ties to make the fabric for this one!
Now that I've mastered feathers, there's little I can't do with the dern things. Summer's adoration of plumage has given me a new love/hate relationship with a posh 'in' accessory.
Feathers and glue don't give. As much as Ive tried, this really is the best lesson of summer. Feathers can be woven, sewn and clamped, but gluing them is just dumb.
Dumb dumb dumb.
Deadline day: success!
Here are 14 pairs of peacock earrings. 2 are different for the 2 MoH for the group. These are gifts for a bachlorette party, and after today, reside in California.
Working on my animals. Goodness I love animals!
This guy is a pre-washed piranha. His teeth are way too adorable and I'm thinking he'll be great on a tote or scarf.
I'm gearing up for a possible new vendor. So, my crocheted jewelry is in full swing and these are the newest additions to my list of crafts: copper stud egg nests.
I need to thank Kat for donating the originial pearls for these nests. She donated so many odds and ends at the beginning of 2011 and I'm still finding uses for all of it!
Today's submission is almost not acceptable bc I'm not the crafter.
Pokie (South Bend, IN) sent me this solo earring with a batch of art I'm taking to Larc's first festival in September. All I did was add a jump ring and a chain to make it a beautiful necklace.
Maybe Pokie will start an etsy page and FB page for her goods (because this one is a true example of her style and it's stunning).
It's a croc neck scarf. Omg so cute.
And, I'm taking orders for this creation. If you'd like one please message Larc on Facebook! He's for sale and I can make him or another in a couple days.
These were the design I made for Kelly for her bday. They're dangle earrings filigree with lapis and flowers.
My first coffee sleeve. It's wool and completely feltable, but I'm afraid it'll felt too small, so I'm going to probably hand wash it instead of washing machining it.
Upcycled circular scarf.
I love this yarn. My friend heather gave it to me for my bday this year and I made a tradition scarf with it.
Well, it was too thin for me to actually love as a scarf and I tried to use it as a scarf this spring, but it looked more like a knotted mess than a scarf. Today I've edited the edges, bound it into one big circle and TADA! Circular scarf! The best part for me is that it's unisex. Big time.
Now I might be changing it again and just using it as scraps if I still don't love it come winter time. The wool would felt super well into something adorable and editable. Look for this peice again in the future.
ADORE!
It's a crocheted circular bag. A catch all! Oh man, it's too cute. Question is, to sell or not because I adore it. Its shape, colors, and utility are lovely...
Retro!
I love turquoise. And I love retro. So here are a pair of earrings for the simple 80s girl. 70?
Gosh. Am I retro? I love these.
This necklace's parts were given to me by a friend, Kat, who was tired of it. I love its symmetry and color combo. Perfect for work or out with the gfs.
New necklace design. Blue stones, antique bronze filigree center with copper chain.
I love the lapis in this. Its remade from a bracelete I ordered from etsy that fell apart the first moment I put it on. Gotta love upcycled jewels. What I did was laced the lapis around the inner circle of the filigree with crafting line (ok, some people would say it's fishing line), and then strung more onto the blue top circle. I used copper jumprings and a necklace to kinda match the filigree.
I'm dipping into vintage style and here's my first creation. Its a simple glass bead necklace with tiered sized pale mint beads.
This was easy to compile and create once I knew the difference in beads I wanted.
More vintage/retro style to come!
Yum yum. Feathers are soooooo in right now.
So, here's a Larc pair. I think they're my fav of the lot I have designed recently. I love bead work with the feathers. The bead color really pops.
I have 12 pairs ready for Urban Gypsy. Plus I sold 14 pairs on etsy this week. Whoa. That's a lotta plumage!
Hootie hoot hoot! Guess what month it is???
That's right, it's August all you craftblog lovers. For us here at Larc Handcrafts Studio (read the 'us' as me and Cole, my adorable feline partner in craft, Sampson, the persistent tripod, and Douglas, our bug catcher extraordinaire) this year will be our second annual 'Craft A Day' extravaganza!
In preparation for the holiday season, to boost my productivity, and to test some unfamiliar craft territory, I use August as my mandated daily production month. And you get the benefits with all the details, pictures, and moaning that comes along with the month. You also get to purchase etsy goodies, which you can always claim before I post them for sale.
Added bonus this year-if you catch me not crafting one day, (as in not posting a blog within the 24 hours of a calendar day), comment on Larc's FB page, and you get a set of earrings of your choice shipped to you FREE! (Unless we live in the same city, of course).
Free jewelry-awesome.
